Today, buying an orchid at a flower shop is fairly quick and easy. Most florists even carry orchid blossoms for their flower arrangements. The orchids you buy from a florist won't live very long, but a rooted orchid could be a lot of fun to care for at home. You just need to find the right spot for the orchid, with plenty of humidity and airflow, not exposed to wind and cold. There is usually a phase of trial and error where you learn what your orchid likes and dislikes, which is an extremely fascinating form of communication between a flower and a human.
